Who we are

EssayMarker is run by Athnx (Timothy Kofi Amo), based in Winneba, Central Region, Ghana. By using EssayMarker you agree to these terms. You can reach us at kofiamo.timothy@gmail.com or on +233 24 825 2444. You can read, save or print these terms at any time at athnx.com/terms.

Your account

  • Anyone with an email address can sign up, by signing in with it.
  • Each sign-in link is sent to your email. Keep your email account safe: anyone who can open it can sign in as you.
  • EssayMarker is for teachers marking their own pupils' work.

What the marking is, and is not

  • EssayMarker reads handwritten essays and suggests marks out of 30 against the WAEC BECE composition scheme.
  • It can misread handwriting or give a wrong mark. It shows you what it read before any mark, and you can change every mark.
  • The marks you give a pupil are your decision.
  • EssayMarker is not made by, or connected to, WAEC.

Your pupils' work

  • Only upload scripts you are responsible for marking, and only where your school allows you to use EssayMarker.
  • We use them only to read and mark them for you. The Privacy Policy says who handles them and for how long.

Credits and payment

  • Marking one script costs 1 credit.
  • Reading a question paper costs 1 credit, each time you ask for it to be read.
  • Every teacher gets 5 credits free, once.
  • Credits are taken when the work starts. If the work fails, they are refunded. See the Refund Policy.
  • Credits belong to the teacher whose account holds them. They can't be moved to another teacher or school.
  • Credits can't be cashed in. Money comes back only through a refund under the Refund Policy.
  • Credits do not expire.
  • The price of each pack of credits is listed on the home page. That is the full price: there are no other fees.
  • You pay in Ghana cedis through Paystack, by mobile money or card. The credits are added once Paystack confirms the payment.
  • Your Credits page lists every credit you were given, spent or had refunded, and any that were taken back.
  • We may change prices. A new price applies only to purchases made after it.

Fair use

  • Do not try to see another teacher's marking or account.
  • Do not let someone else use your account.
  • Do not try to break, overload or copy the service.

Keeping the service running

We work to keep EssayMarker running, but we can't promise it will always be available. Marking happens in the background and can take up to a day. If marking has not come back 72 hours after you sent it, its credits are refunded and you can send it again.

Ending

You can stop using EssayMarker at any time. We may close an account that breaks these terms. To have your information deleted, see the Privacy Policy.

Responsibility

As far as the law allows, Athnx is not responsible for a mark given to a pupil without the teacher checking it, or for loss caused by the service being unavailable.

The law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ghana. Nothing in them takes away your rights under Ghana's consumer laws, including the Electronic Transactions Act, 2008.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, we change this page and the date at the top.
