Refund Policy

Last changed 21 October 2026.

When work fails, the credit comes back by itself

  • A script that can't be marked is refunded automatically.
  • When you press “Mark the rest”, a failed script is sent again and charged again. It is refunded again if it fails.
  • After three failed tries, a script is not sent again and nothing more is charged. Mark it by hand.
  • A question paper that can't be read is refunded automatically.
  • If a read is cut off part-way, for example when the connection drops, its credit comes back the next time you press “Read this paper”.
  • If marking has not come back 72 hours after you sent it, its credits come back automatically, and you can send it again.
  • If the class page is closed, a refund can take until the next day to show, because the app checks once a day.
  • If the marking service turns your scripts away when you send them for marking, nothing is marked and the credits you paid stay with those scripts. Your next send uses them instead of charging you again, and if you delete that class instead, those credits come back to you.
  • Credits spent on a script that was marked, or a paper that was read, are not refunded automatically, even if you change the marks.

Free credits

The 5 credits every teacher gets once are free. They have no cash value and can't be refunded.

Credits you paid for

  • EssayMarker doesn't refund unused credits automatically. Credits do not expire, so there is no deadline to use them.
  • Within 7 days of a payment, you can ask for a refund of the credits from that payment you have not used. After 7 days, Athnx looks at each request on its own and decides case by case.
  • To ask for a refund, contact us at kofiamo.timothy@gmail.com or on +233 24 825 2444. Tell us the email address you sign in with and the date of the payment.
  • If we refund a payment, the money is returned through Paystack, and the credits that payment bought are taken back from your account. If only part of it is refunded, the same share of its credits is taken back.
  • The same happens if your bank or mobile money provider returns a payment to you after a dispute.
  • Credits you have already used are never taken back. Credits are taken back only from what you have left, so your balance never goes below zero.
  • If a payment is refunded in more than one part, its credits are taken back once, when the first refund is completed. A later part takes no more credits.
  • Paystack and your bank or mobile money provider decide how long the money takes to reach you.

A payment that does not match its price

If Paystack reports a payment that doesn't match the price of the pack, no credits are added. Athnx checks it by hand, and either adds the credits or refunds the payment.
